Jan 30, 2006 : AT&T Opens Network Node in Qtel IDC
📅 - AT&T (thenewatt.com) and Qatar Telecom (qtel.com.qa) announced last week that they had partnered to open a new network node in Qtel's data center in Qatar.
Qtel will provide global connectivity and IP VPN services with the help of AT&T and managed services provider NavLink (navlink.com).
Qtel says partnering with global networking companies enhances its strategy of becoming a one-stop shop for networking and data center services in Qatar and the Middle East.
"Under the leadership of H.H. Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the Emir of Qatar, we have embarked on a program to lead the region into the next generation of telecom and IT related services," says Dr. Nasser Marafih, chief executive officer of Qtel. "By establishing this network node in Doha, Qtel can now offer leading Qatari and multinational enterprises a wide range of new advanced data services, including world wide connectivity over a global network."
