Marina del Rey, California, USA (4 February 2002) -- Following a long international search, ICANN is pleased to announce the appointment of Kent Crispin as Technical Systems Manager of ICANN effective immediately. Kent's long experience as a technical manager and project leader at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory makes him ideally suited for this role. He has considerable experience with high-security network environments.
As Technical Systems Manager, Kent is responsible to the President and CEO for the technical architecture and operational functions of ICANN.

📅 - Level 3 Quells Talks of Bankruptcy - Bandwidth and connectivity firm Level 3 Communications issued a public statement Friday reassuring investors that it did not expect to file for bankruptcy protection. The statement was in response to public speculation that the company might file for Chapter 11 following its fourth quarter earnings report. In the report, the company said it could "violate a revenue-based financial covenant" which requires the company to reach a target amount of telecom revenues. 📅 - Qwest Posts Major Losses - Voice and data services company Qwest Communications International Inc. posted on Tuesday a fourth-quarter loss on revenues, which were lower than expected. Citing an overall weak economy, sales and lowered sales for telephone services and high-speed fiber optic capacity, the company reported a net loss of $516 million, or 31 cents a share, compared with net losses of $116 million, or 7 cents a share, a year previous. This compared with a profit of 16 cents last year. For the year, the company recorded pro forma normalized earnings per diluted share of 5 cents compared to 59 cents for 2000.
