May 9, 2006 : NAF Administers .pro Disputes
📅 - Domain dispute arbitration organization the National Arbitration Forum (adrforum.com) announced on Monday that it now administers .pro disputes under the Qualification Challenge Policy. The QCP combines (icann.org) ICANN's Rules for Qualification Challenge Policy and the NAF's rules.
The organization says it will provide as a more fair and cost-effective way of resolving disputes regarding the qualifications of .pro domain registrants. Domains with the .pro extension can only be registered by members of the legal, medical, certified public accounting or engineering fields.
".Pro domain names are becoming more commonly used among professionals and professional organizations," says Kristine F. Dorrain, Internet legal counsel for the National Arbitration Forum. "The QCP is an important policy and is in place to allow anyone to challenge a .pro registration, regardless of trademark rights, to ensure that the integrity of the .pro domain names remains for those that do meet the registration qualifications."
The National Arbitration Forum rules apply to the appointment of the arbitrator, the timing and deadlines associated with the process, the rules surrounding communications between parties and arbitrators and the fee structure.
