Jun 8, 2006 : Web Drive Adds Automated Recovery

📅 June 8, 2006 - Web hosting and network service provider Web Drive (webdrive.co.nz -> openhost.co.nz -> crazydomains.com) announced on Thursday it will improve on the one hour server replacement standard with a new automated service that puts businesses back online within minutes following a hardware failure.

"When businesses are offline, there's more than just the cost of lost sales and communications," says Web Drive managing director Daniel Williams, "there's the emotional cost of frustration, stress, and anxiety, which can be far more damaging."

Starting July 1, Web Drive will introduce a server hardware replacement and data restoration service that customers can activate themselves. Having full server control enables customers to be back online within 15 minutes of a hardware failure, as a series of machines waits to be activated into service.

WebDrive says the second stage of its plan is to offer a 100 percent uptime service level guarantee. Currently, the Web host offers a 99.9 percent service level guarantee, backed up with a 20 percent discount on customers' next account if unscheduled downtime surpasses 45 minutes in any given month.
