📅 - Hyperscale Data Centers Surpass 1,000, Now 41% of Global Capacity - The number of large data centers operated by hyperscale cloud companies has passed 1,000 and, according to new statistics from Synergy Research Group, they now make up 41% of the global capacity of all data centers. The remaining hyperscale cloud capacity is now housed in leased spaces, slightly more than half of which are in self-built data centers.
On-premise data centers have only 37% of total capacity, and non-hyperscale colocation accounts for another 22%. This contrasts sharply with the situation six years earlier, when on-premise facilities accounted for about 60% of data center capacity.
By 2029, hyperscale operators will control more than 60% of total capacity, while on-premise [...]
📅 - IonQ Unveils Advanced Quantum Error Correction Method - IonQ (NYSE: IONQ), a global provider of quantum computing technologies, has unveiled a new development that could enable the use of partial error correction to perform massive applications on short-range quantum systems. The method would be orders of magnitude more effective than state-of-the-art error correction methods.
In a new study, IonQ researchers offer a unique method for reducing noise in Clifford gates, which are among the most popular and noisiest operations used in quantum applications. Unlike other methods that use tens, hundreds or even thousands of qubits for error correction, Clifford Noise Reduction (CliNR), a partial error correction approach, uses a small 3:1 qubit [...]
