Jul 31, 2006 : Peak 10 Opens Second Data Center

📅 July 31, 2006 - Data center operator and managed services provider Peak 10 (peak10.com -> flexential.com) announced on Friday that it has opened its second data center at its headquarter location in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The building of Peak 10's second Charlotte data center follows successful expansions in its Raleigh, North Carolina and Louisville, Kentucky markets in 2005. Peak 10 says it continues to expand operations to capitalize on the growing demand for infrastructure hosting and high-end managed services nationwide. The company has additional expansion projects planned or near completion in Louisville and its data centers in Tampa and Jacksonville, Florida.

"Our expansion in Charlotte demonstrates our proven track record of investing in the markets we serve," says David Jones, president and CEO of Peak 10. "Our second Charlotte data center is a next generation facility, designed to support the higher density power and cooling requirements of our customers. This new center and other expansion projects are being deployed based on the same philosophy that underlies the success of Peak 10 as a company - incremental, success based growth in phases to limit capital exposure but to provide high availability as well as reliable and cost effective solutions for our customers."

The phase one build-out was showcased at the company's annual BBQ and Bandwidth customer appreciation event held on July 27. Peak 10 says its Charlotte location is now the largest privately-held data center and managed services operation in North Carolina.

The announcement comes off the heels of last week's opening of Peak 10's second data center in Tampa.

The 15,400 square foot data center brings the company's total Tampa data center space to more than 30,000 square feet.

According to the press release, DunnhumbyUSA "collects and stores customers' buying data to help retailers make competitive pricing decisions and enhance customer relationships and loyalty."
