C I Host first passed the SAS 70, or Statement on Auditing Standards No. 70 Type I audit, in 2003. That stamp of approval applied to C I Host's corporate policies surrounding management and personnel controls and the infrastructure and security controls that are associated with the operation of C I Host's data center and Web hosting functions. It is required for companies who want to provide IT services to companies with high security and confidentiality requirements.
The Type II certification that C I Host received this month requires a more extensive examination in which the auditor examines and verifies that the company's controls are being followed on an ongoing basis, and then reports on their findings every six months.

"It means that we accurately document our procedures, that these procedures support the delivery of our services, and that they can hold up under the scrutiny of an independent auditor each and every day."
