Oct 3, 2006 : CenterPoint Opens Chicago Facility

📅 - Industrial real estate owner and developer CenterPoint Properties (centerpoint-prop.com) announced on Monday it has opened a 62,000-square-foot colocation data center at the DuPage National Technology Park in West Chicago, Illinois. The Cyber Continuity Center (cybercontinuity.com) will be owned and managed by Cyber Continuity Center West Chicago, and is expected to open in spring 2007.

"We master planned the DuPage National Technology Park to satisfy the data capacity and information security demands of 21st century businesses," says Fred Reynolds, SVP of development at CenterPoint. "Cyber Continuity Center is an excellent example of an innovative company that will benefit from the advantages offered here, advantages not available at any other location currently in the market."

The facility will meet and exceed the uptime institute's tier 3 data center designation, making it one of only a few of its kind in the US. The rapid growth of digital information and Internet use is creating the need for data storage and colocation services, which allows off-site businesses to use the facility as either their primary data center or as a redundant disaster recovery center.

Cyber Continuity Center will contain two separate areas managed and operated by a technical support team. One space will house multiple server racks for lease by businesses requiring data storage support, while the second space is comprised of 'micro-suites' -- private data centers that benefit from the tier 3 infrastructure of the larger building.
