Oct 16, 2006 : Google's Blogger Recovers From Hack
📅 - Google's Blogger publishing service Blogger (blogger.com) spent last week recovering from last weekend's two-hour outage, after a man hacked his way into Google's main official blog, which is hosted by Blogger.
However, according to a short note posted on Blogger Status, a site where the company alerts users about system issues, a "network malfunction" caused the outage. The hacker broke into Google's blog on Saturday and posted a fake message announcing that the company had decided to cancel an eBay-partnered click-to-call advertising project.
By Sunday, Google had fixed the bug and removed the posting, but the hacker's prank had already been widely noticed by then, causing considerable speculation and confusion among many Google blog readers.
Google is currently testing enhancements to a beta version of Blogger to improve the service, after it went down for a while on October 1, and the main Blogger platform experienced "sluggish" performance for several hours on September 28, according to Blogger Status.
