📅 - Intel has been the top provider of chips for mass-market computer servers and other devices for many years. However, the longtime prediction of a threat to their cash chow business isn't just a prediction anymore.
Qualcomm Inc., announced recently they will start to produce server computer chips. Currently, Qualcomm is known for providing chips for smartphones, but will move into the computer server business very soon. While Intel has the majority of the large tech giants as clients, Qualcomm entering the marketplace allows customers to demand price cuts and gives them another option to consider.

📅 - China’s HNA Group Closes Ingram Micro Acquisition - Chinese IT company HNA Group finally closed its $6 billion acquisition of U.S.-based Ingram Micro, the world's biggest IT distributor, this week, according to representatives from both companies. This acquisition marks the completion of what is being called “one of the most significant M&A deals in the channel this year.”
HNA Group's plans to acquire Ingram Micro were first announced in February 2016. The regulations have been difficult to navigate, as both regulations from China and the U.S. are at play in this acquisition. Ingram brought in new board members and executives at the time of the announcement.

While the 5G market hasn't been developing at super-fast speeds, AT&T believes this trial is a step in the right direction. The protocols for the new technology are not expected to be completed until 2020.

📅 - Virtuozzo Takes Care of Security Issue Hackers Could Have Used - Virtuozzo found an issue with a Linux Kernel exploit this week and uploaded a fix for Virtuozzo 7 customers. This issue could have allowed malware users to get in and crash a Kernel. It could have potentially allowed a hacker to get all the way through to the virtual private server, which could have caused even larger issues.
Virtuozzo says it's proactive when it comes to security and takes immediate action to fix any exploits found. The vulnerability was discovered by Philip Pettersson and the fix was discovered by a Solar Designer on the team.
