Dec, 2016 : China’s HNA Group Closes Ingram Micro Acquisition
📅 - Chinese IT company HNA Group finally closed its $6 billion acquisition of U.S.-based Ingram Micro, the world's biggest IT distributor, this week, according to representatives from both companies. This acquisition marks the completion of what is being called “one of the most significant M&A deals in the channel this year.”
HNA Group's plans to acquire Ingram Micro were first announced in February 2016. The regulations have been difficult to navigate, as both regulations from China and the U.S. are at play in this acquisition. Ingram brought in new board members and executives at the time of the announcement.

📅 - Verizon Data Centers Being Bought by Equinix for $3.6 Billion - Another blockbuster deal was announced in the data center industry. Equinix will purchase a large portion of the data centers of Verizon Communications for $3.6 billion. Verizon has been trying to sell this portion of their data center business since the beginning of the year.
Equinix says it is purchasing 24 of the data center sites, which includes most of the sites Verizon acquired in 2011 from the acquisition of Terremark Worldwide. The deal is expected to be closed by the middle of 2017 and will give Equinix another 2.4 million gross square feet, while bringing their total data center numbers to 175.

📅 - Big Tech Steps in to Stop Terrorist Propoganda from Spreading on Social - Tech giants like Microsoft, Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube announced that they will work together to help remove the social influence terrorist organizations currently have. Using social media, terrorist propaganda is allowed to spread online and help organizations recruit new members.
On Monday, the companies announced that they would create a database to track the digital fingerprints of these organizations, enabling them to quickly remove images and videos identified as originating from terrorist organizations.
