Dec, 2016 : Oliver Stone’s Dot Com Domain Rescued by Canadian Fan


📅 - Director Oliver Stone has quite a following in Canada, and that fan base includes Bill Sweetman, the president of domain acquisition firm Name Ninja. When Oliver Stone's dot com domain wasn't renewed this year due to an oversight by Universal City Studios, Bill took action on Stone's behalf.

“I've long admired Oliver Stone's work, especially his fearlessness at tackling controversial subjects. I didn't want this 19 year-old domain to fall into the wrong hands because Universal City Studios had failed to properly safeguard Mr. Stone's domain.”

When the dropped domain went up for auction last week, Bill purchased it with the intention of returning the domain to Stone. An Ixtlan rep did confirm that the director is again the owner of the domain and that they reimbursed Mr. Sweetman for the acquisition.
