📅 - Some data center providers top the list when it comes to using renewable energy. Digital Realty Trust is at the top of the list with Equinix following right behind. This is according to a report done by the US Environmental Protection Agency.
Most of the companies choosing a data center provider like Digital Realty Trust or Equinix do it because of their own sustainability programs. In addition, it's cheaper to use solar and wind energy compared to other sources of energy.

📅 - LinkedIn May Soon be Blocked in Russia - Russia is threatening to shut down the popular business networking site LinkedIn. The government under the leadership or Vladimir Putin, recently passed a law requiring all companies operating within Russia to store their data locally, and LinkedIn does not do that.
The law was passed in 2012, following the re-election of Putin in the wake of anti-government protests. The threat to shut down LinkedIn is the first test of the law.

📅 - 17 Dyn Data Centers Were DDoSed Globally - More details are surfacing about the recent DDoS attack on Dyn Data Centers. Now, it's known that 17 data centers were attacked in a massive DDoS strike. This strike interrupted internet services for sites, such as Amazon, HBO Now, The New York Times, PayPal, Spotify, Twitter and many other sites.
Dyn has servers in 20 data centers across the world and the attack was able to get to 17 of the data centers. It used CCTV cameras and DVRs to create the attack. Three data centers were not attacked, which were found in Shanghai, Warsaw and Beijing.
