📅 - Fifth Australian Data Center Launched by Equinix - Equinix recently announced the launching of another data center in Australia. This will be the fifth data center for Equinix in the country and it will be found in Sydney. The company has invested $97 million into this data center, which is known as the SY4 facility. They even have 20 customers on board with Servers Australia as one of them.
Three other Equinix facilities are also found in Sydney and one other is found in Melbourne. As the world's largest data center provider, Equinix now has nearly 150 centers globally.

📅 - Wikileaks Released Data on Hundreds of Innocent People - Personal and sensitive data of hundreds of innocent, ordinary people has been released by Wikileaks. Some of those innocent people include children, and rape victims. A report published today by the Associated Press found that Wikileaks published the medical records of “scores” of people, among them are rape victims, children, and the mentally ill.
The AP also states that the transparency group “routinely” publishes identity records and personal phone numbers which can be used by criminals.

📅 - Alphabet’s Project Loon Gets New Leader - Google's Project Loon is hiring a new leader to head up the project. Tom Moore, co-founder of Wildblue Communications Inc., is taking over as a vice president of X, the research division of Google parent company Alphabet Inc.
Project Loon is an effort to launch high altitude balloons into the stratosphere, which will emit broadband internet over remote sections of the world.

📅 - CloudFlare Won’t Back Down to Record Labels - A group of record labels want CloudFlare to stop providing services to websites connected to music streaming site MP3Skull. CloudFlare isn't backing down.
Earlier this month, CloudFlare told a court, that without proper legal proceedings, they can't be forced to block sites connected with MP3Skull.
That move was praised by the Electronic Frontier Foundation in a recent blog post, “Copyright law limits the kinds of orders that a court can impose on Internet intermediaries, and requires courts to consider the pros and cons thoroughly. In this case, as in other recent cases, copyright (and trademark) holders are trying to use extremely broad interpretations of some basic court rules to bypass
