📅 - AVG and Avast have come to an agreement an Avast Software will buy AVG Technologies NV for $1.3 billion. They will add software for mobile phone protection from malware as a part of their plan with the technology.
Avast is backed by CVC Capital Partners and will start a tender offer in Amsterdam at $25 a share in cash. That will be about 33% above the asking priced on the New York Stock Exchange for the company.

📅 - Microsoft Could Overtake AWS in Popularity by 2019 - A new survey from Morgan Stanley, The 2016 State of the CIO Report, says Microsoft Azure could overtake Amazon Web Services (AWS) as the most used public cloud by the year 2019. The report found that the number of companies without public IaaS service are expected to decrease by 43.8%, down to a record low of 10%.
Amazon currently boasts more than twice the number of customers as Azure, but 19.9% of those surveyed said they had intentions to adopt Azure over the next 3 years. Only 8.7% of the people surveyed said they plan to add AWS services over the next 3 years.

📅 - Rackspace Enables Partners to Resell Azure and Office 365 - Microsoft Azure continues to grow in popularity among cloud services, so news from Rackspace could be just what puts it over the top – the company announced this week that it will offer partner companies the ability to resell Azure and Office 365. Rackspace began offering Office 365 nearly one year ago to date.
The announcement comes just one week before the annual Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference, an event expected to draw more than 15,000 partners to the conference in Toronto.

The area has seen more real estate action from data center purchases than more traditionally “tech” cities – Dallas, Chicago, Silicon Valley – as a recent report from a commercial real estate firm showed.
The purchase of data center space in unexpected places will become more commonplace as the industry continues to expand.

PHP is a popular Open Source scripting language and the plugin will help to check the code on WordPress websites. It will also check to see if the site is compatible with an upgrade.

Qubole, a PaaS company, recently partnered with WANdisco to assist enterprises that want to migrate big data to the cloud.
Many companies are currently using an on-premise data model, which isn't compatible with cloud deployment models. Many are unsure of how to budget or approach the move to the cloud. Qubole and WANdisco want to offer the first fully bundled migration service for companies to make the big move to the cloud seamlessly.

📅 - Facebook Messenger Tests End-to-End Encryption for Secret Conversations - Facebook, the social network giant, is testing end-to-end encryption in Facebook Messenger. The security feature is being tested on a limited basis, and if the participants' feedback is positive, the feature will continue to roll out in phases.
Facebook says they've been bombarded by requests for more security in discussions through Messenger, and this is their answer. The company brought in security and privacy experts to put the measures in place for the new encryption feature.
