RagingWire Shifts Strategic Focus to Wholesale Data Center Services
📅 - RagingWire president Doug Adams, former senior VP at the company, just announced that the company's focus is shifting to “pure cloud and wholesale date centers.”
RagingWire's majority shareholder, Japanese telecommunications company NTT Communications, is behind the strategic shift. They believe wholesale data centers are the future of the market and want to provide the lowest costs by building at a massive scale.

The company offers cloud hosting services, disaster recovery, security, cloud storage and integrated applications. Mr. Varela will be in charge of leading the expansion for the brand.
Israel Varela spent more than 12 years working for Rackspace, most recently as the Commercial Director of Sales. He has led teams with more than 1,500 cloud-centric accounts and has managed accounts valued at over $100 million. .
📅 - Apple to Spend $4 Billion on New Data Centers - Apple is preparing to spend almost $4 billion on building new data centers this year. Instead of relying on Amazon's cloud and data centers as they have in the past, Apple has announced it will build its own data centers. Three new centers in the U.S. and Europe will be built as part of the overall goal of moving away from Amazon.
The prospect of Apple moving a big chunk of its IT spending out of Amazon's cloud and into its own data centers caused a stir this week. The new data centers are expected to be about 2,544 square feet.

📅 - Public Housing Communities Gaining Free Internet from Google Fiber - Public housing communities with Google Fiber will soon gain free gigabit internet service. The company made the announcement on Wednesday and plans to expand the program to many cities in the near future. They are working directly with the US Department of Hosting and Urban Development's ConnectHome initiative.
The partnership began to deliver free internet last summer, but the connections topped out at 5 Mbps. This connection was free for anybody after the initial fee. However, Google Fiber will now offer the Gigabit connections free of charge, too. .
