📅 - Apple is preparing to spend almost $4 billion on building new data centers this year. Instead of relying on Amazon's cloud and data centers as they have in the past, Apple has announced it will build its own data centers. Three new centers in the U.S. and Europe will be built as part of the overall goal of moving away from Amazon.
The prospect of Apple moving a big chunk of its IT spending out of Amazon's cloud and into its own data centers caused a stir this week. The new data centers are expected to be about 2,544 square feet.

The company made the announcement on Wednesday and plans to expand the program to many cities in the near future. They are working directly with the US Department of Hosting and Urban Development's ConnectHome initiative.
