Profitability.net Announces Completion of SSAE 16 Examination

profitability.net logo📅 - Profitability.net, a Cincinnati-based data center and provider of colocation and cloud Infrastructure as a Service solutions, announced today that it has received an unqualified opinion for their Standards for Attestation Engagement No. 16 examination. The SSAE 16 examination was completed by A-lign CPAs, and performed in accordance with American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements No. 16 (SSAE 16).

"Rather than complete a SAS 70 Type II audit, we elected to invest in completing the SSAE 16 examination standards and we believe we are one of the first independent colocation service providers to do so. The audit report provides our clients with reasonable assurance that we have appropriate internal controls and processes in place to operate a high availability data center and that they are achieved and operating effectively," states Profitability.net CEO, Aaron Larkins. "We believe that our completion of the SSAE 16 examination will simplify future audits for our clients and satisfy prospective customers who are seeking a long-term data center partner."

The SSAE 16 has many similarities to the current SAS 70 standard, but has updated rules and requirements in the vein of the international standard, the ISAE 3402. The key difference between the SAS 70 and the SSAE 16 is the requirement for management to write their own assessment of the controls and provide a written assertion regarding the controls, which the 3rd party auditor must attest to by performing testing procedures. The testing procedures included onsite inquiry, observation and inspection of the controls by the A-lign auditor.

The SSAE 16 standard places more emphasis on the service provider having a basis for their written assertion regarding the operational effectiveness of their controls. Profitability.net's control objectives are in the following areas; DataCenter Security, Environmental Safeguards, Preventative Maintenance, Network Availability, and Customer Ticketing. Larkins notes, "These areas are at the core of our service and operations, and are of vital importance to our clients. By passing the audit in all of these areas, we are able to validate to our clients that we manage and operate our data center with the utmost care commitment, and attention to detail."
