May 14, 2010 : SoftLayer Partners with Citrix
📅 - Partnership enables the company to offer cloud solutions for trials and demos and provide turnkey cloud on-boarding capabilities.
SoftLayer Technologies, an on-demand data center services provider, will enable customers to take advantage of Citrix Cloud Solutions announced yesterday at Citrix SynergyTM 2010. The company says that it has partnered with Citrix, a provider of server and desktop virtualization, networking, software-as-a-service (SaaS) and cloud computing technologies, to host the Virtual Demo Center which demonstrates how these initiatives can be implemented in its infrastructure-as-a-service model.
The company articulates that Citrix Cloud Solutions are based on an open technology stack with deep interoperability between layers, enabling enterprises to support existing investments including third-party virtualization technologies and tools. It avers that a key solution highlighted by the Virtual Demo Center is the Citrix Cloud Solution for On-Demand Demos, which enables companies to leverage cloud computing to dynamically create customer training environments to demonstrate how a product functions.
The company explains that the addition of Citrix Cloud Solutions into its portfolio of cloud-based services increases the value that NetScaler VPX and XenServer already provide. Offering its customers application delivery controllers as an on-demand, cloud-based service with NetScaler VPX, the company can deliver the industry's best load balancing, application optimization, and "pay-as-you-grow" pricing. The company further explains that Citrix XenServer allows it to provide a dynamic server virtualization tool that maximizes efficiency and increases hardware utilization. It adds that it chose Citrix over other providers such as F5 and VMware because its technologies provide the lowest TCO and highest level of cloud innovation.
The company mentions that it is participating in this year's Citrix Synergy as a Gold Level Sponsor. The company further mentions that more information on its hosted Citrix Cloud Solutions environment can be obtained by visiting booth 306.
"The Virtual Demo Center, running on SoftLayer CloudLayerTM, shows the value cloud can bring to Independent Software Vendors (ISVs)," said Lance Crosby, CEO of SoftLayer. "Using the Citrix Cloud Solution for On-Demand Demos, SoftLayer can enable ISVs to stand up fully isolated Proof of Concept (PoC) environments on demand without having to burden the sales force, channel, or customers with concerns over provisioning and configuring the PoC hardware and software capacity."
"SoftLayer's CloudLayer solution offers a highly effective environment to operate a hosted Citrix deployment," said Klaus Oestermann, Group VP and GM, Networking and Cloud Product Group, Citrix Systems. "In fact, deploying XenDesktop PoCs in SoftLayer has been a large contributor to helping Citrix accelerate its market lead in desktop virtualization by allowing partners to instantly demonstrate the value of Citrix solutions to their customers."
