Jul 29, 2009 : Arsys Announces Spain Data Center

📅 - New data center incorporates the latest technological advances in energy efficiency and availability to minimize the environmental impact of hosting.

Arsys, a provider of internet services, yesterday announced that it has opened its new data center in Spain, incorporating the latest technological advances in energy efficiency and availability. The company states that the new data center also allows maximum flexibility in server configurations offering Tier 3 and Tier 2 data center capabilities, depending on customer needs.

It explains that to minimize the environmental impact of hosting, its data center incorporates several innovations in energy efficiency and its structure takes maximum advantage of the climate conditions of its geographical location. Some key features include thermal coating to keep the indoor temperature, duct systems to supply cold air from the outside to the inside of the facility and a liquid cooling system with high efficient cooling towers. The company adds that in environmental terms, these features will reduce the air conditioning's energy consumption by 40% and consequently CO2 emissions.

It further explains that as a result of these innovations, its new data center offers high energy efficiency, achieving a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.45. PUE is an industry standard developed by The Green Grid that is used to assess the energy efficiency of data centers. The lower the resulting ratio, the more efficient the data center.
