Feb 25, 2009 : Netcetera Expands Isle of Man Facility
The new zone will have 150 racks available for colocation, providing space away from London's congested data centers.
London continues to face more restrictions on space than ever before, which can partly be attributed to planning restrictions imposed by the Olympics.
Last month, Transitional Data Services president and co-founder Michael E Bullock confirmed the shortage of data center space in London, as well as in the United States.
Power usage in London is often limited, however, Netcetera has 10 Megawatts of power available and can offer high density rack hosting up to 45kW per rack.
The data center will offer inclusive pricing for rack space, power and bandwidth, designed specifically for companies looking to move their servers out of the office and colocate for the first time, or companies who are considering expanding their current colocation space.
According to the press release, Netcetera's data center "takes care of any security, power, cooling and fire concerns caused by inappropriately storing servers in the office."
The company has a 10Gb Ethernet ring running between Manchester and the Isle of Man to ensure the highest levels of connectivity performance and availability.
The Isle of Man and Netcetera's data center is ideal for colocation and disaster recovery services.
Power is supplied from three of the most modern power stations in the UK, the data center has natural security being surrounded by a large body of water and the resilient high capacity fiber optic cables connected to both Manchester and London enable high connectivity.
The Isle of Man is located an hour plane ride away from any UK airport. Clients using Netcetera's 16,000 square foot colocation facilities have 24-hour access and can also manage their servers remotely with virtual server management services.
"Today's businesses are heavily reliant on their IT infrastructures and it is essential that they are looked after properly," says Felicitas Gawenat, Netcetera's marketing manager. "Companies are being restricted from expansion by both space and power shortages in their current data centers. Here on the Isle of Man we are in a great position to offer co-location at an all-in-one price for any business. Due to this, banking and financial services companies are showing particular interest in Netcetera."
Netcetera provides colocation, dedicated servers, disaster recovery, and managed infrastructure services to businesses in over 60 countries worldwide.
