Having offered enterprise-level VPS for years, according to the company's Monday announcement, its new private label VPS accounts, starting at $100 per month, are powered by dedicated VPS containers hosted on CentOS 5.2 and Microsoft Windows Server 2003 servers, letting resellers more directly manage and control their reseller hosting environment.
Customers can use both Windows and Linux platforms simultaneously, and manage both through a central interface. Individual hosting accounts are controlled through Parallels Plesk 8.6.x and include a number of features through the Plesk Application Vault including productivity tools and applications, GroupWare, ZenCart & OScommerce, blogs, and Wiki applications.
"Our Private Label VPS hosting is part of an organic evolution in the web hosting market, where resellers demand more flexibility while minimizing their overhead by outsourcing their IT infrastructure," Gearworx chief executive officer William Gregorian said in a statement. "We can meet their demands using our new plans and we feel that we're one of the few companies openly offering a solution that's ready for use out of the box.
In November, Gearworx introduced an Adobe ColdFusion 8-enabled VPS, designed to offer developers the tools and resources needed to run powerful and scalable applications for their clients.
Gearworx's network features a one gigabit Ethernet backbone, built on redundant routing architecture with hardware failover and Cisco's Hot Spare Router Protocol. Powered by Dell, all server hardware is owned and operated by Gearworx, not outsourced or leased from a third party.
