Nov 18, 2008 : Colo Firm AIS Acquires Complex Drive

📅 November 18, 2008 - San Diego colocation provider American Internet Services (americanis.net) has acquired Complex Drive (complexdrive.com -> hostinger.com), a San Diego data center provider known for its customer support and innovation, helping it deliver carrier-neutral data center solutions to the local market.


According to a Monday announcement, by combining the collective technology, networking capacity and expertise of both companies, AIS will be able to provide the widest range of solutions to its customers. AIS's data center offerings include a variety of cabinet, cage and data suites, as well as roof rights for microwave links and other antennae systems.

Complex Drive's infrastructure includes 20,000 square feet of data center space in three data centers in the burgeoning San Diego Spectrum business park, forming a key hub for Fiber and Telecom carriers as home to 11 Tier 1 Fiber carriers.

"We are extremely excited and proud to join forces with Complex Drive, which has built its reputation as one of San Diego's finest data center operators for its flexibility, expertise and superior customer service," AIS chief executive officer Alessandra Carrasco said in a statement. "The joint strengths and values of both our companies equal a superior breed of service provider and benefit to our customers, partners and employees, across the board."

Founded in 1994, AIS is also one of Southern California's fastest-growing colocation companies, having recently opened a 80,000-square-foot data center, offering SAS 70 Type II certified offering carrier-neutral data center solutions. The acquisition of Complex Drive, the company said, helps create an unparalleled infrastructure for its San Diego customers' needs.

"San Diego customers will have access to best-of-breed services through this new partnership," Complex Drive chief executive officer Joe McMillen said in a statement. "Complex Drive and AIS have stood together in San Diego as the pinnacles of uptime and customer service, and together these two groups will create synergies that will bring even greater benefits to the Southern California region."

According to the agreement, Complex Drive will immediately become a seamless part of the AIS family with no staff or management changes to either company.
