Nov 10, 2008 : CRG West Adds IDCG as Customer
📅 - Data center operator CRG West (crgwest.com) announced on Friday it has added the International Derivatives Clearing Group (idcg.com) to its growing customer base in Chicago.
This latest customer announcement follows last month's addition of InfoSpace to its Northern Virginia data center.
IDCG has deployed the world's first over-the-counter interest rate swap exchange at the data center and peering provider's location in Chicago's downtown financial district.
Through its subsidiary International Derivatives Clearinghouse, the IDCG creates a central clearinghouse which will provide a forum to clear and settle interest rate swap contracts and other fixed income derivatives contracts.
The IDC has applied to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission to be designated as a derivatives clearing organization.
The data center is SAS 70-certified and is adjacent to Chicago's primary fiber routes, and includes security features such as 24-hour secure-site access, mantraps and biometric scanners.
"CRG West is honored to have been chosen to host such a ground-breaking effort in the financial world," says Kevin Knight, CRG West vice president. "This demonstrates the dynamic offering CRG West has in Chicago, providing organizations such as IDCG with an environment perfect for financial exchanges, helping to ensure future growth and success."
The company develops, manages and operates world-class data centers, providing wholesale data center and retail colocation space, connectivity services, remote hands support and an Internet peering exchange, the Any2 Exchange.
CRG West has 11 carrier-neutral data centers in Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Northern Virginia, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Washington DC.
Over the past few years, Chicago and its surrounding area has become a popular location for data center activity. Last month, Microsoft recently completed the first phase of its Chicago data center, which use standard shipping containers as a primary server-packaging unit, while Managed Data Holdings acquired Stargate's facility in Chicago suburb, Oak Brook in August.
