📅 September 15, 2008 - Data center operator and managed hosting provider Peak 10 (peak10.com -> flexential.com) announced on Monday it has partnered with Emergent Game Technologies (emergent.net), providing the game development tools provider with a fully managed dedicated virtual server solution and managed firewall.
This is certainly not the first time that Peak 10 has been involved in the computing gaming industry, and this latest customer announcement further expands its presence.

In June 2007, Peak 10 hosted and sponsored the first-ever Triangle Game Jam, where nearly 200 senior game developers to the data center operator's headquarters to develop as many games as possible under a common theme and technology platform over the course of two days.

At the event, the company provided the game developers with a secure environment within its data center, including access to high-speed Internet access, power and other basics.

Emergent Game Technologies develops and licenses gaming engines and tools to increase efficiency throughout the development process.

The company develops technologies and services that provide developers with a range of integrated capabilities for building, testing and managing games. Emergent's Gamebryo game engine solution is used to create games for the Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC platforms.

The Peak 10 Raleigh staff tailored a virtualization solution to meet Emergent's needs, ensuring that its mission-critical data is both secure and accessible around the clock. Leveraging its Microsoft Gold and VMware partnerships, Peak 10 says it combines its data centers and portfolio of managed services with localized engineering and support to serve companies nationwide.

Peak 10 hosted a live webcast last month entitled "Virtualizing Your Data Center: Maximizing ROI and Minimizing Total Cost of Ownership," where virtualized services manager Bill Cashman discussed virtualization techniques for data centers.

The announcement comes off the heels of last week's opening of Peak 10's second data center in Tampa.
