📅 - Switching and routing solutions provider Foundry Networks (foundrynet.com) has announced it has included Microsoft Windows Sever 2008 Hyper-V in its data center switching and application delivery solutions.
According to Foundry's announcement this week, its Layer 2 and 3 network switches and Layer 4 to 7 application delivery switches coupled with Microsoft's (microsoft.com) virtualization software offer data centers added efficiency and value.
"Together with Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V, Foundry's industry-leading data center infrastructure offers a compelling virtualization solution for enterprises," Foundry corporate marketing and alliances vice president Benjamin Taft said in a statement. "By delivering interoperability between Foundry switches and Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V, customers have a complete virtualization solution, from application platform to network infrastructure, to deliver overall lower operational costs and enhanced ROI. It is a true win-win for customers."
According to Foundry, its virtualization technology reduces data center power, space and cooling requirements while keeping the high performance needed to handle mission-critical applications and traffic.
Microsoft integrated virtualization strategy director David Greschler said Foundry's switching solutions will pursuade more enterprise customers to take advantage of virtualization.
"The combination of Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V and Foundry's L2/3 and application delivery switches provides a powerful new way for enterprise customers to take advantage of virtualization with one solution from two industry leaders," Greschler said in a statement. "Foundry's edge-to-core solutions complement Microsoft's holistic systems management suite and virtualization platform solutions, powering efficiencies across the data center and translating to a new vision of how to maximize IT infrastructure investments."
According to the company, its Foundry's BigIron RX-32 L2/3 backbone data center switch is up to 50 percent more efficient than competing products.
