According to the announcement Wednesday, the addition of the Cincinnati data center will further strengthen the working relationship between the two companies, increasing the number of Peak 10 locations using tw telecom ethernet services to ten of Peak 10's 13 total data centers.

Scheduled to launch later this year, the Cincinnati facility is linked to the tw telecom network via a gigabit-Ethernet network. Peak 10 has the ability to deliver managed services to its data center clients nationwide on demand and burst to three times its subscribed capacity.

"Through this continued deployment, Peak 10 is able to leverage our network investments to reach even more customers around the United States," tw telecom's Atlantic region vice president Ken Chinchar said in a statement. "With more buildings connected with fiber than any other competitive carrier in the US, and the ability to leverage our Ethernet Services portfolio, Peak 10 can combine their breadth of managed data center services with our robust network portfolio ? truly a winning combination for enterprises."

Peak 10 director of network services and engineering Ronnie Frames said the main reason his company chose tw telecom is their reliability and scalability. "They offer on-net connectivity at most of our data center facilities, so we can quickly complement our managed services with highly-available Internet service. And as our clients' needs grow, we can add additional tw telecom services very easily," Frames said in a statement.

Peak 10 recently appointed Jeremiah Dooley managed services engineering director to help lead Peak 10's comprehensive managed services portfolio including virtualization, storage, security, management, monitoring and disaster recovery. Other recent appointments include Ernest Leffler, who was named the company's VP of its Cincinnati operations in March, and Bill Cashman when he was made virtualized services manager in February.

Formerly known as Time Warner Telecom, tw telecom changed its name to on July 1, 2008.
