May 21, 2008 : Fortrust Introduces Managed Services

📅 May 21, 2008 - Colorado-based data center operator and colocation firm Fortrust (fortrustllc.com) said Tuesday that it had added new management services around its high-availability data center services.

The company says its new service will be marketed as Fortrust Managed Services, and will enable customers to outsource the management, monitoring and maintenance of their applications and information systems to the company.

The new managed services are immediately available to existing customers of the company's data center, and are on sale to new customers as well.

Fortrust says the managed services were developed in partnership with fellow Colorado-based firm Absolute Performance (absolute-performance.com), a software and services company that will support monitoring, management, pre-production load testing, end user experience validation and reporting functions.

Absolute, says Fortrust, is focused on managed services, and is committed to reliability and quality service. Its ability to scale its solutions quickly to meet Fortrust's projected growth was reportedly a key to its selection.

A set of Absolute's servers and platforms dedicated to supporting the Fortrust Managed Services product will be hosted on-site in Fortrust's facility.

📅 May 22, 2008 - Hackers Exploit China Earthquake - Hackers have exploited the recent Chinese earthquake tragedy, which has left more than 50,000 dead, to write and distribute malware. The Trojan-infected email attacks follow recent phishing attacks that have also exploited the Sichuan province disaster. Emails with infected Word attachments carrying a MalDoc-Fam Trojan, now more than a year old, are finding their way into the email inboxes of unsuspecting Internet users. The subject header of these emails pose as news about the earthquate, says Web security firm Sophos (sophos.com).
