(micromuse.com), a leading provider of fault management and service assurance software, announced today that Lightningcast Inc., a streaming media services provider, is utilizing Micromuse's Netcool software to provide real time monitoring of its streaming media services.

Lightningcast is a leading provider of targeted advertisement insertion for streaming media. The Northern Virginia-based company offers services that enable Webcasters to maximize revenue and advertisers to precisely target prospective customers.

Lightningcast is using Micromuse's flagship Netcool/OMNIbus application to collect and consolidate status information from throughout its network. Fault information is delivered to the centralized Netcool ObjectServer database via a suite of Netcool Probes & Monitors, notably the Netcool Probe for Syslog, which gathers information from various hardware devices and software applications across Lightningcast's service delivery infrastructure. Lightningcast uses a Linux-based operating system; Micromuse's Linux Desktops and JEL clients allow Lightningcast's network operations center team to access consolidated service views of network events. This helps the NOC team assess network status in realtime and deal with potential problems before they cause outages in service.
