TeleSpeed Merges With CCI to Form New Carrier Class Telephony Solution Provider
📅 - (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Effective today, TeleSpeed, a pioneering telephony ASP technology company, has agreed to merge with CCI, (ccisecure.com), a leading telecommunications hosting service provider. CCI was founded in 1978.
In 1986, the company was purchased by GTE Telenet, in 1990 the operational management responsibility was moved to Sprint International and in 2000 CCI was reestablished as an independent carrier. The new entity, operating under the CCI name, will incorporate TeleSpeed's equipment offerings and application services into CCI's established application development and telephony support services. Both firms anticipate that the merger will only help strengthen CCI's position in the face of such industry trends as the anticipated explosion in global users of wireless portals from just over 4 million in 1999 to 350 million in 2005, according to a recent study by Strategy Analytics, Inc.
The TeleSpeed platform is a carrier-grade telephony switching and media access engine providing a robust method of developing and running an unlimited number of telephony applications over an unlimited number of telephony resources for an unlimited number of customers. Its platform is currently used by telecommunications firms around the country for such services as Directory Assistance automation and Call Completion.
TeleSpeed's founder and CCI's new CEO, Aron Leifer says: "Application development in the telephony sector is still a relatively new frontier for business. It's an environment where expansion is endless. TeleSpeed's applications, combined with CCI's resources and reputation in the telecommunications industry for software customization and dedicated service will benefit both companies as well as our customers."
Jack Shapiro, Chairman of CCI agrees, concluding that, "The merging of our companies will enable CCI to continue to offer our clients an infinite amount of telephony solutions. TeleSpeed's platform is perhaps the most innovative and exciting in the telecommunications arena, ensuring that CCI will be well-equipped in meeting the ever-changing - and ever-growing - telecommunications needs of industry."
CCI and TeleSpeed are both New York-based privately held companies.
