General Dynamics to Deploy IFS Software and Services Valued At $4.5m
📅 - IFS (ifsworld.com) has been chosen by General Dynamics (generaldynamics.com) and its strategic outsourcing partner, Computer Sciences Corp. (csc.com), to provide business applications and services valued at $4.5 million in support of General Dynamics' supply chainmanagement initiative.
IFS' integrated enterprise software will become a standard business systemfor three General Dynamics operating units - communications systems,electronic systems and worldwide telecommunications systems. It initiallywill be deployed at five sites distributed among Massachusetts, Virginia,California and Colorado.
General Dynamics and Computer Sciences selected the IFS system, whichincludes portal technology and Web collaboration, because it could provide asingle, integrated solution across the entire supply chain.
The applications outsourcing segment of Computer Sciences, a globalinformation technology services provider and strategic outsourcing partnerfor General Dynamics, will manage and support the IFS software.
General Dynamics will use IFS' Web-based components to manage functionsthroughout the entire supply chain management process, includingmanufacturing, procurement, project control, customer ordering, product datamanagement, maintenance and engineering. In addition, General Dynamics willuse IFS' portal and Web collaboration technology and other e-businessmodules.
