Internet Operations Center Acquires Universal Data Publishing


📅 - Internet Operations Center, Inc. (iocenter.net), a leading e-business service provider, announced yesterday that it has acquired thecontinuing business activity and employees of Universal Data Publishing Corp., located in Cornelius, N.C. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Universal, specializing in business and webapplication development, was established in 1981 by C.Dennis Jones. Universal's staff of five will all workwith IOC as direct employees or consultants. Universalhad sales of just under $1 million in 2000.
"Universal brings strong professional capabilities toIOC, along with solid clients. From a culturalperspective, the two companies are similar inpresenting high value-added, quick-response service toits clients. We are very enthusiastic about jointlybuilding our business in this high growth Carolinaregion," said David J. Marczak, IOC's chief operatingofficer.
In addition to Jones, IOC will add Mark Rinker,business development; Nancy Jones, web developer;David Wood, project coordinator; and Peter Farnham,network engineer.
"IOC's data center capabilities, 24x7 help deskservices, and depth of resources will allow us to seekand retain more business than if we were to stayindependent," said Jones, Universal's founder and vicepresident.
The Universal transaction is the second of its kindfor IOC this year, as it acquired the continuingbusiness activity of Broadband Avenue in April 2001, athen Charlotte-based hosting company that ceasedoperations earlier in the year.
