📅 - Sprint Corp. (sprint.com), a global integrated communications provider, and Dell (dellhost.com), a premiere computer systems company,have formed an alliance to optimize the core offeringsof both organizations.
Sprint and Dell expect the alliance, which focuses onenhancing and growing Web hosting and e-commerceofferings to the small and medium business markets, togenerate hundreds of millions of dollars in salesbetween the two companies over the next seven years.
Under the agreement, Sprint and Dell will worktogether to develop a comprehensive array of bundledhosting solutions tailored to the growing needs of SMBcustomers. Sprint will use Dell PowerEdge servers andPowerVault storage in its hosting business and Dellwill purchase selected telecom services from Sprint.
"This relationship allows us to integrate IP, framerelay, broadband and wireless solutions into ourexisting Web-hosting product and to offer thoseproducts at leading service levels and competitiveprice-points," said Mike Arterbury, general managerfor DellHost. "Sprint's ongoing commitment to thesmall and medium business marketplace made them thetop choice for an access provider."
Both companies say the alliance builds off thestrengths of each other's core businesses. Sprint'scapabilities in communications transport and Dell'sexpertise in enterprise equipment, including PowerEdgeServers and PowerVault Storage and Internetinfrastructure, combine to bring SMBs a robust andreliable Web hosting solution specifically tailored totheir needs.
The addition of Web hosting for SMBs complementsSprint's already extensive broadband offerings forcustomers, including Sprint ION - Sprint's convergednetwork solution - and Sprint Business DSL.
