The Nexsi 8000 is powered by Nexsi's innovativeContent Services Processor, a custom-designed,87-million transistor system-on-a-chip, whichintegrates computing and network functions optimizedfor line-rate layer 4-7 services processing. Unlikeexisting network devices that focus on layer 2-3packet switching and forwarding, the Nexsi 8000 isdesigned to provide unsurpassed levels of computationon each packet that flows through the system. Thiscomputational ability allows the Nexsi 8000 to performlayer 4-7 services at unprecedented performancelevels.
Nexsi's industry-leading architecture provides 8-Gbpsline-rate packet processing for stateful inspectionfirewall, VPN with 3DES, IPSec, bandwidth management,layer 4-7 Web switching, global load balancing, SSL(Secure Sockets Layer) acceleration, and supports upto 100 secure content domains in a single system. Incontrast to traditional approaches, the company saysthe Nexsi CSS dedicates processing resources to eachservice performed, allowing multiple services to runsimultaneously at multi-gigabit rates withoutperformance degradation.
The first release of the Nexsi 8000, includingstateful inspection firewall, IPSec VPN and bandwidthmanagement services, is expected to begin shippinglater this year.
