Oct, 2001 : Metromedia Expands Relationship with MSN


📅 - Metromedia Fiber Network Communications Inc. (mmfn.com)announced yesterday that Microsoft Corp.'s MSN network of Internet servicesis occupying 30 percent of the co-location space in MFN's Internet ServiceExchange facility in Seattle.

The acquisition of co-location space in Seattle expands the existingrelationship between the two companies. MSN also has co-location space inMFN's San Jose ISX, uses MFN's Global IP Network, and leases MFN'smetropolitan dark fiber. In addition, MSN has an agreement with MFN's newlyacquired SiteSmith subsidiary for on-site support of Microsoft equipmentlocated at MFN's data centers.
MSN is also a participant in PAIX.Net, Inc., another MFN subsidiary and aleading neutral Internet exchange. PAIX.Net, Inc. serves as a primaryInternet peering hub and enables the exponential growth of the Internetthrough its geographically dispersed facilities.
"MSN's experience working with the first-tier co-location facilities ofMetromedia Fiber Network as well as SiteSmith and PAIX has been positive.Our decision to expand the relationship to include their Seattle facilitymade sense, given our complementary strategies in delivering an end-to-endservice solution," said Rick Rice, group program manager at MSN.
