Inflow's Internet Routing Improves Download Times 20-30 Percent
📅 - On the heels of securing an additional $35 million in equity funding, InFlow, Inc. (inflow.com), a provider of Internet Data Centers and managed hosting services, announced yesterday its Intelligent Routing service.
Inflow says its Intelligent Routing technology significantly improves thewebsite performance of Inflow customers. Website visitors will establishconsistently faster download times and improved Internet reliability, ultimately reducing abandonment and driving usage.
IR technology identifies the location of a website visitor and dynamicallydetermines the quickest path across the Internet for connectivity. Thetechnology uses InflowNet, Inflow's guaranteed 100% available Internetaccess service, to ensure not only the greatest speed but also the highestreliability.
Keynote Systems (keynote.com), an independent Internet performance measurement company, evaluated Inflow's IR service by conducting an extensive group of rigorous tests, and found that the system works to eliminate the network as the performance bottleneck improves download times by 20 to 30 percent for the users most in need of help. It also provides a 14 percent average improvement in the performance of Web site downloads when the server is not the bottleneck.
"In the course of our work at Keynote, we have had the opportunity to lookat many different technologies that claim to improve performance," saidChris Loosley, director of professional services at Keynote. "By dynamicallyselecting better Internet routes, Inflow's IR service reduces download timesin a way that is not achievable by any other technology that we havemeasured."
Keynote further said that the analysis of Inflow's IR technology involvedmillions of data points taken from the end user perspective, and from dozenof locations in the U.S. The analysis shows conclusively that Inflow's IRservice significantly improves overall website performance, especially forthose users who are most in need of a performance boost.
"Of all aspects of critical Web applications, poor Internet performance is amajor inhibitor to the success of a Web site," said Art Zeile, president andCEO for Inflow. "Inflow Intelligent Routing provides the highest level ofInternet reliability and performance with the quickest routes to end users.
Inflow's Intelligent Routing identifies the location of the website visitorand determines which border router within the InflowNet mesh provides thequickest path to the visitor. To do this, the website's HTML string allowsthe customer's website visitor to identify himself to Inflow's IR system. Once the visitor is announced, the border routers are sampled individually to determine the quickest path to the end-user. InflowNet's mesh is then updated to direct all outbound traffic through the selected router for that specific visitor. This service improves BGP route selection at least 45 percent.
