Oct, 2001 : Micromuse's Netcool Suite Deployed by Verizon ESG

(micromuse.com), a provider of realtime fault management & service assurance software, has announced that Verizon Enterprise Solutions Group (ba-dsg.com) has implemented the Netcool suite to consolidate network status information and provide realtime alerts for the company's managed network solutions offering.

Verizon Enterprise Solutions Group manages the design, operation andmaintenance of end-to-end networking solutions for large business andgovernment customers throughout the United States. The Netcool suite ofproducts has been implemented as part of the integrated management systemused to support SiteWatch and FrameWatch, the Verizon product offerings forthe management of its customers' enterprise data networks and data networkedge devices, such as routers, switches and hubs.
"The Netcool solution provides for easy installation and integration, whilehelping to provide network assurance and reliability of enterprisemanagement systems to better maintain quality of service," said KatrinkaMcCallum, Micromuse's executive vice president and COO. After a competitiveanalysis of available technologies and proof of concept, Verizon deployedMicromuse's flagship Netcool/OMNIbus application as a part of the integratedmanagement system used by its network operations centers in suburbanPhiladelphia and Austin, Texas.
The Micromuse Netcool operational support system application is fullyintegrated with those from other leading vendors. In addition, a suite ofNetcool Probes & Monitors is used to gather information from variouscustomer devices under Verizon management and deliver fault information tothe centralized Netcool ObjectServer database. This helps Verizon networkoperators quickly identify and create relationships between infrastructurefaults and the availability of services.
