A study completed in spring 2000 indicated that a majority of continuingeducation students surveyed expressed a preference for online registrationand course payment, prompting the School Board to develop the new Web site.In a vendor competition held by the School Board, E-SyncDesign Toronto(e-syncdesign.com) was awarded the development of the Continuing EducationWeb site. The School Board's requirements for the Web site were to givestudents the ability to search, register and pay for all ContinuingEducation courses offered in the fall, winter and spring terms, in a secureonline environment. The design firm created the Web site to meet allrequirements.
With the new Web site, students can now choose three search methods to finda course, learn about the course's individual class details, register forthe class, and have the fees automatically calculated and pay online.E-SyncDesign created the registration process, from beginning to end, to becompleted in six easy steps.
"Online registration is much easier and much anticipated by students, asopposed to conventionally having them register by telephone, fax, mail or inperson. The site is so successful that within three weeks of launch, over3000 students registered for courses online," added Breit.
