Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive Selects Equinix to Enhance Web Operations

(equinix.com), creator and operator of neutral Internet Business Exchange centers, announced yesterday thatWashingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive (washingtonpost.com), The WashingtonPost company's new media and electronic publishing subsidiary, has selectedEquinix IBX centers to enhance the performance of washingtonpost.com, one ofthe top five general news sites on the Internet.

As a part of the agreement, WPNI will move all washingtonpost.com Weboperations to Equinix's neutral IBX environment. By moving to Equinix, WPNIwill have the flexibility to choose from the wide aggregation of Internetinfrastructure companies offering their services within Equinix's openmarketplaces, including more than 65 carriers and network service providers.By directly connecting within the same center to its strategic businessproviders, such as Global Crossing, WPNI will enhance the performance of itsWeb properties by having a direct connection rather than a circuitous pathto reach its Internet infrastructure providers.
