The new service includes an automated process for registering popular domainname extensions such as dot-com, dot- net, dot-org, dot-info, dot-biz anddot-ca. The complete solution includes the domain search and registrationforms, an electronic shopping cart and e-mail support, customized to lookand feel consistent with the domain reseller's brand or Web site.
"This is the first domain registration solution of its kind on the market,"said Karim Jiwani, general manager of DomainPeople. "We've had significantinterest in this type of system, especially from larger organizations likeInternet portals, that require full integration of third party services intotheir offerings."
Conventional systems available to domain resellers include some elementwithin the registration process that indicates that a third party iscompleting the registration. The new DomainPeople service ensures that theregistrar is invisible to users during the registration process.
Post registration, e-mail-based customer service and support is alsobranded. "Our reseller partners can offer domain name registration withoutworrying about the service and support issues," added Jiwani. "We canprovide service and support in the reseller's name, allowing them toleverage our expertise as an ICANN-accredited registrar. This frees themfrom having to train and use their own resources for support."
The service joins the company's existing wholesale domain registrationservices that offer varying levels of customization and control by domainresellers.
