📅 - BellSouth (bellsouth.com), a DSL provider in the Southeast, announced yesterday a new promotion for Excite@Home and other cable modem customers who are not under term contracts and are looking to switch to a new broadband provider.
The offer allows qualified cable modem customers to switch to BellSouthFastAccess Internet Service for free, with no charge for a DSL modem oractivation after rebate, no hidden costs, no long-term contracts, a freemonth of service and instant access to their new email account, the companysaid.
Cable modem users who switch to BellSouth FastAccess DSL receive freeactivation through a rebate and can immediately connect to the Web and theirnew email account via a dial-up connection until they are connected to DSL.Typically, a new BellSouth FastAccess DSL customer receives theirself-install kit and is connected and surfing at high speeds in less thantwo weeks. BellSouth's offer for cable modem customers also includes a freeDSL modem after rebate, a free third month of service and, if they orderonline, a free copy of Norton firewall software. This offer is available toqualified cable modem customers until Dec. 31.
"BellSouth recognizes that once you have had broadband it's hard to livewithout it, so we are giving cable modem customers a unique, one-time offerthat saves them as much as $300 and allows them to easily switch toBellSouth FastAccess DSL," said Bill Story, vice president of broadbandmarketing and sales for BellSouth. "BellSouth has demonstrated itscommitment to DSL through an aggressive deployment plan that will bring theservice to 70% of the households in our region by year-end, and grow ourcustomer base to 600,000 by the end of this year and to 1.1 million by theend of next year. These numbers show that we are a provider that is in thebroadband business for the long haul."
BellSouth FastAccess Internet Service is available at $49.95 per month, orfor $45 per month for BellSouth Solutions Plan customers. BellSouthFastAccess Internet Service for Business is available at $79.95 per month,or for $75 per month for BellSouth Complete Choice or Area Plus subscribers.
