Dec, 2001 : Telus Captures Gold at CICA Annual Report Awards

📅 December 7, 2001 - Telus (telus.com) has captured the Gold award in the Telecommunications category of the 50th Annual Report Awards presented today by the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (cica.ca) and National Post (nationalpost.com).

The Annual Report Awards recognize the top financial reporting models inCanada. Annual reports are judged on their ability to communicate financialinformation in a clear and concise manner, paying particular attention tomanagement discussion and analysis, presentation, corporate overview,financial information and supplementary information.
"Telus has earned a reputation for being a leader in corporate reporting anddisclosure and this award continues our proud tradition," said RobertMcFarlane, executive vice-president and CFO of Telus. Telus has a long history of wins, with seven consecutive years of medals atthese annual report awards. Telus was the Gold winner in Telecommunicationsin 1995, 1996, 1997, and 1998. In 1999 and 2000 Clearnet Communications,acquired by Telus last year, was awarded the Gold medal, while Telusreceived the bronze in 1999 and silver in 2000.

📅 Dec 5, 2001 - SMBs No Strangers to Outsourcing, Yankee Group Finds - Research firm The Yankee Group (yankeegroup.com) released information this week indicating that more than half of small to medium sized businesses (SMB) use outsourcing for their IT needs to some degree. The information comes from the Yankee Group SMB Networking and Infrastructure Study of October 2001. The study found that while over 51% of SMBs rely on a third party for IT needs, under 14% do so exclusively. The rest rely on a mix of in-house IT staffing and outsourced consulting.
