Wireless Operators Trial RealNetworks' Digital Media Technology

(realnetworks.com) announced yesterday that mobile operators AT&T Wireless, Sonera, StarHub Mobile and Telefonica Moviles Espana are conducting wireless digital media trials usingRealNetworks' technology and content over their next-generation 2.5G datanetworks. These data networks, using GPRS (General Packet Radio Services)technology, allow an always-on Internet connection in addition to increasedbandwidth for mobile users.

RealNetworks' mobile technology, which is based on RealSystem iQ mediadelivery architecture and includes support for Third Generation PartnershipProject (3GPP) standards, is designed to increase customer satisfaction andrevenue by supplying digital audio and video services on mobile devices.RealSystem iQ, a standards-based, OS-independent media delivery systemprovides the technical foundation to deliver more than 50 data types fromany platform to any device.
