📅 December 13, 2001 - NetNation Communications, Inc. (netnation.ca) announcedtoday that it has signed an agreement with Irwin Toy to host the toy andgame maker's new Web site (irwintoy.com), including its online product catalogue, brand micro sites and newly launched Secret Toy Box for children.

The most notable technical improvement to the toy maker's new Web site wasthe creation of a customized database. The site now includes a morecomplete, database-powered online catalogue, which showcases hundreds ofIrwin Toy products according to country availability.
"The client provided a number of specifications that required a customconfiguration, one of which was compatibility of the new databases withtheir existing databases," said George Muenz, vice president of businessdevelopment at NetNation. "We provided the database functionality to theirspecifications and developed a back up protocol for increased data safetyand reliability."
The toy maker's new Web site also incorporates a new feature called theSecret Toy Box, which allows children to select toys and games from thecatalogue and then add them to their secret wish lists. The wish lists canthen be e-mailed to a parent, grandparent or other recipient.
"The new Web site was designed to be an engaging adventure, while providingthe latest and most complete information about all of our toys and games,"said Sonia Rotondo, director of advertising and communications of Irwin Toy."With the complexity of the new site, we needed an experienced Web host thatwould develop and manage the technical requirements and ensure it all worksonline."
Web traffic to the Web site will be routed to a number of servers. The "loadbalanced" solution better ensures faster Web page loading speeds and greatersite availability and reliability. NetNation will also maintain the toymaker's servers.
NetNation will also host the toy maker's brand specific micro sitesintegrated into the Irwin Toy Web site. Users are able to immerse themselvesinto individual Web sites for some of the toy maker's brands such asDragonball Z, GirlZone, ReBoot, SailorMoon, Blazin' Key Cars and Jenga.
