Dec, 2001 : Korea Telecom Selects Cisco for IDC Projects


📅 - Cisco Systems, Inc. (cisco.com) today announced that it hasbeen selected by Korea Telecom (koreatelecom.com) to provide networkingequipment to establish new Internet Data Centers in Boondang, Kwangju, andWonju, South Korea. The three new IDC locations will all use a combinationof Cisco 12016 Internet Routers and Cisco 7500 Series Routers.

Korea Telecom currently has twelve IDCs in various locations in South Korea,all of which use Cisco equipment in their backbone environments. KoreaTelecom chose Cisco Systems for the expansion of its IDC operations based onthe successful track record of the Cisco Routers in its existing network.Cisco's customer service and on-the-ground support were also cited ascritical factors in Korea Telecom's decision.

The Cisco 12016 Internet Router offers an innovative distributedarchitecture design that delivers high performance, scalability, andguaranteed priority packet delivery. It features a 16-slot chassis and 80Gbps switching capacity that is upgradeable to 320 Gigabits-per-second. Witha field-installable upgrade kit, the 12016 Internet Router can supportCisco's 10 Gbps line cards, including OC-192/STM-64, 4-port OC-48/STM-16 and10-port Gigabit Ethernet.
