Jan, 2002 : SafeNet Completes Acquisition of Securealink

📅 January 3, 2002 - SafeNet (safenet-inc.com), a provider of Internet security technology for the VPN industry, today announced the completion of its acquisition of Netherlands-based Securealink, Inc. (securealink.com), aEuropean manufacturer of security chips for e-commerce transactions. Theacquisition will be accounted for as a purchase transaction.

The company says this acquisition ensures that SafeNet's growth in thesilicon and intellectual property aspects of its business will acceleratethrough access to a full fabless semiconductor business model with in-housedesign and customer fulfillment, and the fortified support of SafeNet's keyEuropean wireless customers.

(algx.com) yesterday announced that it has acquired substantially all of the Intermedia Business Internet assets from WorldCom, Inc. (worldcom.com). Terms of the deal were not disclosed but Allegiance and WorldCom confirmed that the transaction is not a financially material event for either company. WorldCom was obligated to sell the IBI assets pursuant to a consent decree entered into by WorldCom and Intermedia in connection with their merger last year. That pact required that Clinton, Mississippi-based WorldCom to divest all of Intermedia Communications assets, except for its controlling interest in Web hosting company Digex Inc.

Each of the Group's research teams have considered last year's predictions, assessed their accuracy, and forecasted trends for the next year. After a sell-off Monday to end 2001, investors returned on Wednesday ready to buy. The Nasdaq surged past the 2,000 level and continued to rise Thursday, buoyed by some positive news out of the chip and hardware sectors. Despite the large gains made by tech stocks, however, it was a fairly quiet week for the Web hosting industry.
