Level 3 to Provide Bandwidth to Sony Pictures Digital Entertainment

(level3.com) today announced ithas become the primary provider of broadband services for Sony PicturesDigital Entertainment's Screenblast (screenblast.com). The Level 3 serviceswill support SPDE's new broadband creativity platform. To enable the newScreenblast broadband offering, Sony Pictures Digital Entertainment haspurchased multiple Level 3 services, including center co-location andCrossRoads Internet access.

"It is through Level 3's high-quality co-location service and thereliability of its high-performance broadband backbone that we are able tooffer such a dynamic, interactive platform in Screenblast," said MikeArrieta, vice president and co-general manager, Screenblast for SPDE. "Level3's connectivity to broadband access providers enables content providerssuch as SPDE to effectively reach broadband end users."
Screenblast is an entertainment offering aimed at consumers with broadbandInternet connections. Through the SPDE Web site (sonypictures.com) or theScreenblast site, consumers enter an interactive world where they can chooseto navigate through five genre channels - action, comedy, drama, sci-fi andmusic. From there, users can then move into the director's seat to createand showcase their work and connect with others online through a multitudeof devices.
