Mar, 2002 : Vignette to Integrate With Sun iPlanet Server

(vignette.com), a provider of contentmanagement, announced that it will deliver portlets, or portal buildingblocks, that integrate its recently announced Vignette V6 MultiSite ContentManager (VMCM) with Sun Microsystems' (sun.com) iPlanet Portal Server, providing joint customers with access to Vignette-managed content within the Sun portal framework.

Vignette V6 MultiSite Content Manager, an extension to Vignette V6 ContentSuite, enables organizations to manage content on multiple sites and portalsvia a single application. Vignette's continued commitment to native supportof the Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition standard enables tightintegration that allows customers to more fully leverage their current orfuture investments in Sun and Java technology, the companies said.
"Vignette V6 MultiSite Content manager, in combination with the iPlanetPortal Server, will help enterprises effectively manage multiple sites whileproviding a personalized experience for each user," said Wes Wasson, vicepresident of product marketing for iPlanet. Vignette V6 offers content management functionality used for successfulportal development and deployment. By combining the standards-based VMCMapplication with Sun infrastructure, organizations can launch new portalsmore rapidly and leverage their existing investment in iPlanet's portalserver.
