Mar 19, 2002 : IDC Global Opens Chicago Data Center

📅 March 19, 2002 - Managed broadband services firm IDC Global (idcglobal.net) today announced the official opening of its new Chicago Internet Data Center facility to complement its London, England location.

IDC said that as one of the first companies to open a data center since the events of Sept. 11th, the facility would provide "a sophisticated physical security environment" combined "with an accessible, customer-friendly, and hands-on facility."
The facility has been designed to provide customized co-location and management services packages that are flexible to the needs of customers. According to IDC, the versatility of the space means clients can outsource all types of technical requirements, from low-end needs like a single server to complete enterprise systems requiring multiple cabinets or caged areas. IDC also said that coupled with the data center is a "comprehensive suite of broadband services" that include redundant Internet connections and security products and services. The space also includes a private office with amenities and kitchen area for customer use.
IDC, which specializes in broadband access, co-location, security and private Wide Area Networking services, will conduct tours of its new Chicago facility in April. Contact the company for details.

Proceeds from the sale of the data center--which is no longer in use--will be distributed to creditors under a reorganization plan. The sale is expected to close this month.
