Mar, 2002 : EDS And UK Post Office Sign Multi-Million Dollar Contract

📅 - EDS today announced Post Office Ltd has signed and eight-year, multi-million dollar contract to provide the UK government an outsourcing solution to handle benefit payments processes.

Under the agreement, EDS (eds.com) will provide electronic benefits transfer (EBT), customer relationship management (CRM) and application processing services to the Post Office to enable the UK government to issue benefit payments to citizens electronically rather than via paper.
Issuing cards so that the public can open accounts, the new system will involve receipts of automated payment (including reconciliation settlement); the dispatch of statements; and PIN advice. EDS will work with Citicorp EFS, part of Citibank International plc, todeliver these services from EDS facilities in Cheadle, UK. CRM services will be based out of its contact center in Preston, UK.
Processing more than 450 million EBT transactions annually in the U.S., EDS has a successful history in EBT Service Delivery. The company already partners with Citibank in the U.S. to provide EBT services in 35 states.
?This deal will allow customers to access benefit payments in cash at Post Office branches through the card,? said Graham Halliday, Banking Partnerships Director, Post Office Ltd.
?This is a key development in extending the banking services that the Post Office will offer in the future.?
